Professional History

Mayor Funkhouser has had incredibly diverse, lengthy academic and professional careers. He holds a B.A. in Political Science, a Masters in Social Work, a Masters in Business Administration, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Sociology.

Over his nearly forty year career Mark has held jobs as varied as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, a boy scout rifle instructor, a professor, and a state and city auditor. Additionally, he was the editor for Local Government Auditing Quarterly for nine years, and has been a reviewer for American Review of Public Administration since 1989. Since 2007, Mark has served as the Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri.

Mark has been presenting keynotes and workshops at the conferences and events of a variety organizations for nearly thirty years.
